Reading the epoch clock. Cardano runs in fixed 5-day epochs of 432,000 one-second slots. Staking rewards snapshot and pay out on epoch boundaries, which is why the countdown matters to delegators. The clock is computed from the chain tip at page load and refreshes with the page, roughly every five minutes.
Staking, treasury, reserves. Staking on Cardano is liquid and non-custodial — delegated ADA never leaves your wallet and there is no slashing. The treasury is an on-chain pot funded by fees and reserves, spent through community governance; reserves are the not-yet-issued ADA that funds future rewards. Figures come from Koios and are quoted in ADA; conversion from lovelace can be off by under a millionth of an ADA at these magnitudes.
